Cherry Pie : Beauty UK 'Urban Girl' Nail Polish Collection

Beauty UK 'Urban Girl' Nail Polish Collection

Yesterday, on my lunch break, I took a little stroll into town, as I seem to be doing quite a few times a week now! I nipped into Superdrug with the intention of purchasing some Beauty UK products. I wanted to have a nosey at the Beauty UK products as I have read so many reviews about them on the blogosphere and have seen some good things said about them.

I was pleased to see relatively cheap prices, but instead of paying £1.99 each for a few nail polishes, I decided to buy the 'Urban Girl' six pack of polishes. Now, I wouldn't really say these are your typical 'urban' colours? They're all quite feminine and pretty if I'm honest, which is what made me pick this packet up instead of the packet of darker polishes.

L-R: White #69, Peach #52, Lilac #48, Blue #55, Green #42, Grey #57

I was delighted that the packet came with a white polish in it as I've been meaning to get one for ages! Unfortunately these particular polishes don't come with pretty names to them, just a number printed on the bottom, which is a shame because I love the types of names people come up with for polishes!

I have just a few negative points to get out of the way first. These polishes are really thin. I hate thin polishes because it means you need more coats, which then means they chip easier and you really have to rub at them with nail polish remover. These are my nail polish pet hates, but I can get over that thanks to the finish they create after application.

As I mentioned, the colours are really pretty. I particularly love the Blue and Sea-Green as they'd work brilliantly together in some sort of nail art mash up. The white is probably the thickest polish of the lot which made me very happy as I was able to use it for the polka dot effect you can see in the photos.

The feminine peach shade is possibly my favourite. I love the girly feeling I get when I'm typing with pretty pink nails. I also like the fact that not only the Blue and Green could be paired together but the Grey and Lilac and the Peach and White can all work great together.

This is a fab little pack of polishes, great for stocking fillers and as side presents and for £6, it works out cheaper than buying 6 separate nail polishes. The thin coats of polish don't actually bother me too much as they dry pretty quickly, but I had to point it out otherwise the review wouldn't be truthful. I'll definitely be using these beauties again, they are fun, perky colours which is all you need from a nail polish at the end of the day!

L-R: Green & White Polka Dot, Lilac, Grey, Blue, Peach

As if that wasn't enough, I also picked up one of the companies baked eyeshadows. There were quite a few to choose from but I chose the lovely #4 Beach compact of shades.

The Beach compact includes a shimmering Copper colour, a shimmering pale brown and a gold. These are certainly my sort of colours, particularly the brown and copper, but they all work really nicely together.

  5. I don't see how they can be described as 'urban' at all, two of them have grey in them, but they're not urban-y at all! However, regardless of that, they're lovely, lovely colours, shame they're so thin though, I hate that too!
