It's been quite a while since I got a beauty box. I used to have a couple of subscriptions but found that the novelty soon wore off, however I was recently sent the info about the new Latest In Beauty box in collaboration with Capital FM and was very kindly sent a box to have a peek at. I have to say I am really impressed.

By now I'm sure you know how beauty boxes work. The Latest In Beauty Capital FM Beauty Box is £14.95 and when you look at the products within it and think about how much this would all cost in a single Boots shopping trip, you realise you're probably getting your money's worth here.

I'm really impressed with the products within this and really enjoy the fact there is a good mix of high-street brands such as Collection and Rimmel with the higher priced products like Burts Bees, Stila and Pixi and then you have a touch of luxury as well from the Jimmy Choo perfume sample. I actually put my thoughts on the Collection palette down over here and I've even recently written about the Rimmel nail polishes here. I was a big fan of the new Rita Ora collection so to see a shade I didn't already have in the box was great!

The Stila Eyeliner is an absolutely gorgeous black/purple shade. I actually had one of these eyeliners in green not too long ago and it was my absolute favourite so to add another one to my collection is a real bonus. This is perfect for creating smokey eyes.

The whole point of beauty boxes back in the day was to try new brands and I think that has gotten lost over the years. However, I've never tried Pixi or Burts Bees (ok, stop gasping in horror!) so for me personally, I was really pleased to discover these products in the box. I particularly like the Burts Bees lip shimmer, which is a really natural shade with a hint of shimmer.

I'm not too sure about the gold temporary tattoos if I'm honest but I might give them a try and see if they'll bring back the nostalgia of childhood fake tattoos, haha!

It's really handy to have a proper nail file like the one included too!

Overall you can probably tell that I'm very impressed with the box and definitely would have purchased this myself. I think there's something for everyone in this box and it just so happens that in this particular one, there's nine products that are right up my street!

2014 Brand of the Year: Makeup Revolution

Brand of the Year Makeup Revolution

Brand of the Year Makeup Revolution

Brand of the Year Makeup Revolution

There's probably going to be a lot of these types of posts in the blogosphere this week, but I did something similar last year and would like to continue for years to come - it's my Brand of the Year post.

In 2013, this honour was bestowed upon Barry M thanks to its release of some absolutely fantastic palettes, but this year I've given the title to a brand that's not only budget beauty, but it's also good quality beauty too. Take a bow, Makeup Revolution.

I can't actually believe that this brand only launched in March of 2014. It's not even one year old yet and it has already done amazing things, released some brilliant products and ticked all the boxes when it comes to brand/blogger relationships.

Makeup Revolution aims to offer performance and quality at revolutionary prices. It does just that. Prices start at just £1 and there's already so much to choose from, including a professional range and limited edition collections.

It also aims to provide shades for all skin tones and I have to say it really suceeds - just look at its collection of foundations and face products for a start.

The brand's relationship with bloggers is also second to none. I personally have worked with very few brands that are as friendly, sociable and helpful as this one. I have been sent regular parcels of goodies, which are always a pleasure to receive, and have had regular contact with the people behind the brand via email and social media.

Someone seems to be monitoring its social media accounts around the clock too and it is always really supportive of bloggers - even re-tweeting and tweeting links to various blogs, which is always something I like to see from brands.

What's most important about this brand though, is its products, of course. Everything I have tried this year has been of a great quality and a great price. It's the ideal brand for the every day make up addicts we are.

2014 has definitely belonged to Makeup Revolution and I'm really excited to see what's coming up from the brand in 2015.

Makeup Revolution is a brand that a lot of bloggers have been getting behind recently. Amazingly the brand only launched two months ago, can you believe it? In that time it's gone from being a shiny new brand to being one that's really made a big splash in the blogging community. It's blogger interaction on social media is great as whoever is behind the accounts is really on the same level we are and is doing everything right - I do like a brand that re-tweets bloggers and helps them out as much as the bloggers help it out by writing about its brand.

Anyway, I was contacted recently as I had been sent a lovely package of products from the new range! Annoyingly I missed the delivery as I was at work but when I did finally pick it up I was really pleased with what I'd received. The new Salvation Palette is absolutely gorgeous and has been creating quite a buzz as a little sneaky peek was revealed on Twitter recently. The shades are absolutely perfect for me, it's like I had a personal shopper or something. They are SO my colours and I can't wait to give these a try. I love the fact that all of the shades are named and there's a huge mirror in the palette too, big thumbs up!

The Sugar and Spice Blush and Contour Palette is another one that I just want to sit and stare at all day long. Being the bad blogger I am I don't actually own many blushes so this palette is really going to help me out with exploring blushes a bit more often. The two marble-esque shades are perfect, perfect, perfect. I almost don't want to use them and spoil the prettiness.

The Chocolate Deluxe Baked Eyeshadows aren't my usual go to shades but they look so gorgeous that I really want to give them a try. The palette is so cute and tiny - perfect for travelling with.

Bronzer is another product that I've steered clear of recently but looking at the Bronze, Shimmer and Highlight compact makes it look a lot less scary. There's three differet shades here that can be used separately or blended together with one big swoop of a brush - gorgeous!

All of the products are now available from the website and are all extremely reasonable. I am really excited about the future of this brand and what it has up its sleeves. I'll be writing separate reviews soon so keep an eye out for those!

Have you ever seen such a pretty eye palette? I was recently sent this eye palette and didn't want to take it out of the beautiful packaging or even use it and destroy the lovely pattern but alas, the urge to try it out was too much.

The palette, which is part of the new summer 2013 collection, contains four gorgeous eyeshadow shades in copper, pale gold, brown and a shimmering beige/cream. There's also a black/plum eyeliner and two brushes, which are extremely easy to use. All of the shadows are gorgeously shimmery and soft and really stay put for a good amount of time. They're really easy to blend together and I even found the eyeliner surprisingly nice to apply. I usually find it so difficult to apply any kind of eyeliner to the top lid but the slanted brush made it ten times easier.

All in all I really love this palette, I think it's a definite new favourite of mine. The colours are very me and I adore the finished look of all of the eyeshadows as well as the liner. Most of all I adore the packaging and the gorgeous patterning, it's so worth the price tag in my opinion!
