eBay Spring/Summer 2013 and rucksack giveaway

Recently I was contacted about the new eBay Spring/Summer 2013 collection. It's been a while since I featured any lookbooks but this has reignited my love for them so you can expect to see some more in the very near future!

I used to think of eBay as a place where people try to get rid of all their old junk, like an online car boot sale, but it's really come on leaps and bounds in the fashion stakes and I now use it to search for reasonable priced clothing. You can find some great, good quality pieces if you search hard enough and I'm really impressed with the new Spring/Summer collection.

Launching on May 14 the collection is made up of 40 key pieces, showcasing wardrobe essentials. It has been styled by Navaz Batliwalla, also known as Disneyrollergirl, and features five different trends including Surfer Girl, Modern Romance, Scandi Minimalist, 60s Monochrome and Print Clash.

The lookbook is viewable online right here and it's just perfect for browsing the different looks made up of brands such as French Connection, Boohoo and Joe Browns. You can get your hands on the collection here

My absolute favourite piece is the Joe Browns paisley print rucksack, which is a pretty reasonable £21.95. The very kind people of eBay are offering readers of my blog the chance to win a rucksack by following the entry instructions below.

Playing my songs is the way I cope with life

Well, after Blogger well and truly messed things up with everyone's posts this weekend, it's better to just move on and get on with a new one. Blogger mayhem aside, how has everybody's weekend been so far?

Tonight, while watching Eurovision (how funny was it that Jeward beat Blue?) I had a little play around with my blog and ended up changing it completely. The name 'Writer Extraordinaire' didn't really apply to me anymore as I barely showcase any of my writing work anymore, so something a bit more fun and less serious was needed. Unfortunately CherryPie.blogspot.com is already taken, but hasn't been updated since 2001! How annoying.

Vince and I ventured into town earlier today, even though we ALWAYS say we shouldn't go on a Saturday because it's so busy. I decided to get my eyebrows waxed, simply because I am too lazy to stand at the mirror for an hour plucking them. It was £8 and it only took about 10 minutes and I'm actually really happy with the results, so I really must try and keep it up! They're a little more arched than I'm used to as well as thinner. The beautician thought I preferred them to be thicker but I quickly pointed out that they were only bushy because I'm too lazy to do them which made her laugh.

I also ventured into Debenhams to have a look at all of the beauty counters and was quickly hooked in by the male 'beautician' at the Smashbox counter who kept going on about their new products. I was actually interested until he told me the primer I just tried was £30...think I'll still to my £5 Maybelline one thanks.

I picked up a Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume...or at least, that's what I thought it was. It turned out I actually picked up a Body Butter and didn't realise until I'd opened it so now I can't return it. So, now I'm selling it on eBay for almost half the price I paid for it. I can't believe how stupid I am, this sort of thing happens to me all the time. I really need to start paying attention to what I'm buying. If you're interested in the Body Butter or any of the items I'm selling, including Smashbox, MAC and Bobbi Brown eyeshadows, check out my eBay page HERE.

I should have up an interesting review post for you on Monday for a lovely new product I received so see you then! Happy Eurovision night!

Deploy the battery, We’re taking back control

I post so many reviews, nail art and wishlists posts on the blog these days that I don't often get time for a more personal post about what is going on in my life!

Today is my last free day until I start work! I'm going to be working at the University I graduated from for 3 months on an Online Content Writer Internship. The official Internship doesn't start until the 13th but there is some other work for me to do until that date. The sooner I can get money the better really! I'm pretty much going to be working full time and will have evenings and weekends free so there will probably be lots of scheduled posts for a while.

I can't wait until payday already. I have so many things that I want to get for myself as well as for my niece, who is due in July. I've promised to buy her changing mat and of course I won't be able to help myself and will buy her lots of cute clothes and toys. First on my list is a hungry caterpillar baby-grow! Cute! I've asked my sister to tell me EXACTLY what she needs so I can make a list and buy her stuff that is definitely going to get used and she's been very specific which is good!

This weekend has been pretty relaxed. Yesterday I popped into town specifically because I wanted to get the voucher in the Daily Mail newspaper for the free Body Shop Body Butter, but of course, I ended up spending way more money than I really should have. With the voucher, came a 'spend £15, get £5 off' offer, so I took full advantage of that and got myself and Vince a few goodies...

I picked myself up a little Strawberry Shower Gel and Body Lotion set for £5 seeing as they had none of the full size Shower Gel. I also got myself a Coconut shower gel because of it's glorious scent, a headband, the free body butter and hair & bodywash for Vince.

Going into the Body Shop with Vince is hilarious! He likes to sniff all of the testers and recoil in loud disgust at the smell of them all and he was extremely disappointed that they didn't have bubble bath! I know he hates shopping with me, especially on a Saturday, but he did pretty well despite the hordes of people and the amount of shops I dragged him into! He'd much rather stay at home but I like to get out of the house and get some fresh air! The weather was pretty good and he got a treat from the Body Shop out of it anyway. :P

I had to pick up another hair dye as my new red hair has revealed some patchy spots of brown! As it's so long now, one box of dye didn't really cover it properly so I'm going to brave another box! Does anyone else fall for last minute purchases when they're stood in the queue? I always do! I ended up buying a pack of three Dairy Milk and some fizzy sweets. I really shouldn't fall for it but I'm a sucker!

We always spend Saturday nights infront of the TV and as Vince is a bit of a whizz in the kitchen, he always takes on cooking duties. Last night he rustled up some home-made KFC which tasted delicious and was much cheaper than the real thing! His cooking skills amaze me sometimes, he is so inventive and even if he hasn't made a dish before, he just improvises and goes for it, which means I get lots of yummy meals...and lots of weight gain unfortunately, lol!

This weekend I've also taken full advantage of eBay's free listing fees and have literally put my life onto eBay. I still have more to add today after I clear my wardrobe out, so let's just hope I sell it all. If you're interested, you can view my items HERE

So there's my weekend in a nutshell! I will try and blog again mid-week and give you all an update of how the job is going. :)

So sleepy..

You know when you wake up from a nap and you feel even more tired? That's happening to me right now, and I have an evening of University work to do!

Last week I had to write a feature pitch, pretending it was 'real' and that we were sending it to the editor of a magazine. Our lecturer sent our pitches to the editor of Grazia magazine..and down came the chopping block which took off most of the classes heads. Although what she said was relevant to my pitch it still made me feel bad when she said my pitch would ultimately fail. I'm going to try and do it again seeing as we have to submit four pitches in our final workbook so wish me luck!

Third year has been hard so far, although we haven't really done anything in Advanced Magazine Design yet I can feel that Life As A Freelance will make us all want to kill ourselves. I'm wondering how I'm ever going to become a freelance writer if I can't even write a pitch. The main problem for me is case studies - so if you know of a young professional aged between 20-24 that still lives at home with their parents, PLEASE let me know!

3 packages arrived for me this morning, one was the dress which I really like! The other was the skirt which is a bit more floaty than I expected and the third was a freelancing book I got for 1p!

Valentines is on it's way and I already have Vince's present wrapped up nicely. We're planning on just going out for lunch I think, we figured it might be cheaper than going for an evening meal, and then cosying up together in the evening watching TV or a DVD. We'll obviously be so full up from lunch that we are bound to have a nap, hehe. The best thing about this year's Valentines is that it's on a Sunday so everyone can be really lazy!

I haven't been home since Christmas so I'm starting to want to go back, but I wan't to try not to keep spending all my money and I know if I'll go home I'll end up going on a massive shopping spree with my sister. I had a small shopping spree this afternoon where I just picked up a few bits and pieces..including this Cameo necklace from Accessorie for £5!

More purchases!

I seem to be developing a slight eBay addiction, but I figured out that it's probably better to buy clothes from eBy then to spend £20 on a top from Topshop. I'm still waiting for the dress in the post below but yesterday I purchased these two beauties:

Topshop Draped Vest - £7.60!

Black Topshop skirt - £7.50!

I'm currently watching some skinny jeans on there seeing as I need new ones AGAIN because I managed for the second time, to dye purple lines into them by washing them with my dressing gown, when will I learn?!

I bought the skirt because when I went out on Saturday I didn't have a thing to wear so ended up wearing what I always wear. The green dress I'm selling is currently at £5 which is great :)

Anyway what do the joys of Tuesday hold for me? Doing Uni work and then going to work at the Union, great fun. I've put myself down to do some extra shifts which will give me a bit of extra money and for the rest of the week I'm going to be doing pretty much the same..nothing.

What'sa been goin on?

What has been going on since Friday eh? Not much in particular..I got my University bursary on Friday so I spent the whole day forcing myself not to go into town and go shopping. I did however bid on a dress, but I had planned to bid on the dress for well over a week so it didn't count! I have a similar one to it that is plain blue which I really like, perfect for wearing to work experience. The picture really does it no justice.

Of course it's from Topshop and in the store it would have cost me £28 but on eBay it cost £7.87!

I've never actually worn it properly, I've only tried it on and like always, I thought it looked nice in the shop but when I got home I changed my mind but never bothered taking it back, which I should really stop doing!

Saturday didn't really pick up until the evening. Vince and I spent Saturday day time sleeping and then on a shopping trip to asda, which I advise anyone not to do on a Saturday. Saturday evening was much more fun as we all went out. We played drinking games before hand and unluckily Vince had to down a saucepan full of about 8 different drinks and it did look and probably taste as discusting as it sounds, I'm so glad I didn't have to do it! The night was good and dramatic all in one, none of us got to bed until about 4am so I think everyones having an early night..except me.

Today was the final day of waiting to complain/contact Play.com about my DVD that never arrived! It's so ridiculous that you have to wait 21 days before being able to contact them, I think it should be about a week or two at maximum. Well, I told them I wanted a refund and that I would get it elsewhere! Idiots.

My other DVDs from HMV came in about 2-3 days, The Proposal is very funny and I also got The September Issue which is a documentary about Vogue magazines most important issue of the year, it was really interesting. It also amazed me that the editor was British and her father was a top London Journalist so she kind of followed in his footsteps, the fashion designer there worked as a Junior Editor in Britain and worked her way up to having one of the top jobs! I am so jealous, why can't that happen for me? The Devil Wears Prada book and film is based on the editor of Vogue which reminded me I hadn't yet read the book so I've got that on the go now!

Other than that theres not much else to talk about, I have a bunch of work to catch up on which I should have really been doing today but it turned out to be a lazy hangover day really, oh well, it couldn't be helped!
