Glossybox July 2011

After all the hoo-haa surrounding last month's GlossyBox, the anticipation for this one was quite high. I have to admit, after being a little disappointed with last months box, I have actually found one of the products to be extremely good and I have been using it ever since.

The Mama Mio Body Buff that I received in last month's box has been a little godsend to me! I have been using it on my legs every day before a shower in order to exfoliate them. Where I have such pale and sensitive skin, my legs often show small little bumps after shaving and the hair follicles are quite apparent but the Body Buff has worked wonders on them. My legs no longer show the little bumps and they're more or less completely smooth which I have never really seen before! Obviously I've used various products on them in the past but this is the only one that has actually worked and I was extremely chuffed when GlossyBox sent an email to it's subscribers with a £10 discount code as well!

The Body Buff was really the stand out product of last month's box for me so I really felt that after a month's worth of use, I had to give it a little review here!

As for this month's box, it was bound to be impressive wasn't it. I'm sure the people behind Glossybox knew about the disgruntled customers and wanted to make up for things. I think they have certainly outdone themselves this time. The first box, which included a NARS Orgasm Illuminator was really great but this one has 5 really great products.

What was in the box:

Ciate Nail Polish
From the ergonomically designed bottle, the deliberately long cap for ease of use and the 250 bristle flat brush for long lasting, full coverage. Ciate takes exceptional care to make applying their beautiful enamel colours a pleasure. Formaldehyde, dibutyle phythalate and toluene free.

Illamasqua Pure Pigment in 'Involve'
Pure Pigment gives high-shine metallic finish of pure colour to eyes and cheeks. Mix with Illamasqua Sealing Gel to create a water-resistant shimmering eye liner. Making professional make-up available to all for the first time. Illamasqua is taking the world by storm with their fearless dedication to self expression.

LP Skin Lip Rescue Gel
A new skincare range from Dr. Linda Papadopoulos, LP Skin is founded on the science of Psychodermatology. This vitamin-rich lip treatment includes a natural calming complex to soothe your nerves, whilst Hyaluronic Fill Spheres plumps your lips and Volulip improves their shape and contour.

Ultra Sun Face 30
Ultrasun's special Liposome Formula protects skin from UV induced ageing. Apply it once a day for water-resistant sun protection that moisturizes, too. Perfect for face, neck, décolleté and hands, formulated without emulsifiers, fragrance or oil to reduce prickly heat.

Weleda Pomegranate Regenerating Body Oil
Weleda Pomegranate Regenerating Body Oil contains only pure plant oils. Rich in essential fatty acids and anti-oxidising vitamins, slather on this oil for more elastic, hydrated, smooth and supple skin. Suitable for vegans.

I was really impressed with the quality of the products in this months box. The nail polish itself is worth nearly £10 so we really got our money's worth. I received shade #19 which is a lovely plum colour called 'Cabaret'. I love the long handle and cute pot with the bow on it. It dried extremely quickly and only needed one coat! <3

When I showed my mum this box she went a little loopy! She was all over the Weleda Body Oil, telling me how much of a good product it is, the same goes for the Ultrasun Face oil. The Weleda Body Oil smells really gorgeous but the packaging looks a little like a medicine bottle! The oil is said to firm and hydrate skin so I think I'll give it some good use and write a proper review in a months time!

Illamasqua is one of those presitigious high-end products that every blogger wants to get their hands on. The product is very lovely but I'm not too sure about the colour! Illamasqua say you can use this as a type of eyeshadow and a cheek highlighter but I'm not sure about having a purple sheen to my cheekbones? It might look nice mixed with other eyeshadows, I will definitely give it a good try and let you know how I get on!

I have already tried the lip rescue gel. It smells gorgeous and promises to plump and shape your lips. I certainly noticed that my lips had a nice gloss to them and looked a little more plumped than usual. In order to get a more plumped look, the gel does tingle a bit, much like Soap & Glory's Mother Pucker product. After a while my lips were a bit tacky and sticky so I ended up wiping it off. I get very annoyed by lip products, which is why I never wear lipsticks or lipglosses and only use balms but as this one is supposed to 'rescue' your lips, I will definitely give it a chance as mine as always quite chapped and dry.

In the three months that GlossyBox has been around, there has been quite a rollercoaster of emotions from it's subscribers. Last month was a definite down-side but this company are obviously still finding their feet and I think they've done very well this month. I think I can possibly stretch to one more box but will be cancelling my subscription when the packaging costs are introduced. I've loved receiving this box every month but I fear I'm going to end up with lots of unused products! My mum has already tried to get the Weleda Body Oil off me though!
