Matalan Splash Print Trainers

Matalan Splash Print Trainers

I thought the days of me buying proper trainers were long gone. I remember when I was younger and pestered my mum for the 'latest' trainers, which were so ridiculously priced. Some kind of Reebok if I remember correctly. Oh dear.

These days I'm more of a skinny jeans and ballet pumps or Converse kind of girl, until I started exercise classes earlier this year. It started as some kind of unofficial New Year's resolution to get myself out of the house for an evening and now it's Yoga as much as I can and aerobics once a week.

I was doing spin classes from around February until very recently but got a bit bored of them if I'm honest and thought I'd try something new. The trainers I had for spin weren't 'proper' ones, they had quite soft soles so I needed something a bit sturdier for aerobics. I knew I didn't want to splash out stupid amounts so I headed straight to Matalan as I'd spotted trainers in stock earlier in the year, unfortunately there weren't many still in so I headed to the website and the Splash Print trainers caught my eye almost immediately thanks to the graffiti/paint splash almost Aurora lights-esque patterning.

They really stood out on the website and funnily enough stood out in my aerobics class too! They're super bright and funky and I love the bold colours against the black trim.

I've never reviewed trainers before but these are super comfy while still being supportive around the ankles. I know they're not exactly your high end training/running shoes but they're in keeping with this new breed of 'fashionable' trainers and for the price they do the exact job I need.

What do you think of the Matalan Splash Print Trainers? Let me know in the comments.

If there was ever the perfect pair of shoes to photograph, these are definitely them. I actually received these slip on plimsolls after winning a giveaway. I couldn't actually believe my luck if I'm honest, I never win anything.

Anyway, they recently arrived along with the monochrome nail shades and can of Batiste. I've never heard of the brand before but after checking out their website I'm actually reasonably impressed. From the giveaway picture I thought these would be much more skater shoe/VANS-like but they're actually really soft slip ons, almost feeling like slippers!

They're super duper comfortable as well. I'm loving these style of slip on shoes for this time of year, I think they're the perfect transitional shoe, especially when it's too hot for thick socks and boots but too cold for ballet pumps and sandals. They're quite true to size as well, which is great. I requested a size four but started worrying because my other slip on shoes come out quite big so I thought I'd need a three, luckily they fit perfectly and I'd definitely recommend checking out the brand - there's so many different colours, patterns and even styles to choose from. Definitely a new fave!

Have you tried Flossy shoes? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Coral Feet

Coral Lazer Cut Ballerinas
Internacionale Coral Lazer Cut Ballerinas - £12.99

I just wanted to write a quick post dedicate to my lovely new shoes!

You may have seen these in a recent outfit post but I wanted to write a little more about them. I picked them up on a complete whim while I had a bit of extra money to go shopping with. Usually I wouldn't wear coral coloured shoes and would usually stick to black but I must have feeling super summery or something as I decided on these over the black and brown shades. Good choice I say!

I'm not trying to be gross but ballerina flats are pretty well known for going a bit horrible due to your feet sweating but as these include a cut out pattern your feet have the ability to breath!

£12.99 is a tad on the more expensive side but they're cheaper compared to the likes of New Look and Topshop. The flats are really comfortable so I'd definitely recommend! I'm keen to pick up some more colours.

I was recently contacted by ButterflyTwists.com and asked if I would like to review a pair of their foldable shoes.

Obviously I said yes and chose to receive the Elizabeth IV ballerina flats in black.

I chose this pair as they're really just a simple pair of black flats with some great studded detailing on the toes. They arrived really quickly and came in a cute box with a little drawstring bag too.

It was quite strange seeing a pair of shoes folded up into a box and I thought that when I put them on, they'd kind of be uncomfortable and pull on my feet a bit, but they are probably the comfiest pair of shoes I've ever worn.

I was also given a pair of the cushion socks, which are brilliant, if like me you find your feet get a bit sweaty in flats without socks. These are just like the skin coloured ones you can get everywhere but these ones are actually designed to be the same shape of the shoe and you can't actually see them at all once the shoes are on. Perfect!

I would definitely pay the £30 price tag for these. They're such a good idea for people that wear heels on a night out as well. You can just tuck these into your bag and whip them out on your way home, I know I could have done with these in University when we used to walk home eating our pizzas! Heels always kill me.

Matalan Ballet Creepers

Matalan Ballet Creepers

Matalan Ballet Creepers

Matalan Ballet Creepers

Matalan Ballet Creepers
Matalan Ballet Creepers - £10

Creepers are a trend I can't really get on board with. They look great on other people but on me, not so much.

Flatforms are a trend that I've tried but haven't really got on with very well either. I purchased those ASOS flatforms and they did nothing but hurt and blister my feet as well as slip off with every step.

The Matalan Ballet Creepers are a mix between the two ugly shoes. They're so ugly that I love them.

For £10 they are a complete bargain and they only have a tiny bit of height, which is great for me. They are also extremely comfortable and have a cool leopard print inside.

The shoes are a mix of rubber/spongy sole and a suede like material so I'm a bit weary of wearing them in the rain. They're also quite a big fit. I tried on a size 4 and it was much too big so I've had to settle for a size 3 in these.

Despite the sizing, they're just the perfect mix of creeper and flatform and they look great with pretty much anything. I was so glad when I finally found that Matalan had restocked all of the sizes in this, I'd definitely recommend them!

Barratts Shoes

Barratts are a staple on the British high-street. They cater for the entire family, with women's shoes, men's and children's shoes available and I can safely say that they're still one of the top shoe retailers in the UK.

As a fashion/beauty blogger I have a real love for shoes and after recently browsing the stock available on Barratts.co.uk I was extremely impressed!

While you have your Topshop's and your New Look's which both do great shoes, it's easy to forget a shop like Barratts but I would urge shoe shoppers to seriously consider checking out the wonderful collection, which is definitely going to be better made and more reasonably priced!

Barratts stock a great range of mid, low and high heels as well as a range of cute court shoes for more civilised occasions. There's also a range of wedges, sandals and my all time favourite Ballerina shoes!

There are a great range of Ballerina shoes available and there are some great bargains to be found. The Spotty ballerinas are a favourite of mine and at £15 they're certainly affordable.

There are some more heavily priced shoes but you know you're paying for quality shoes that will last for ages!

The range of court shoes is really impressive and I can even spy a dupe of Kate Middleton's famous nude heels in the form of the Patent round-toe platform courts.

For something not so high, the Floral peep-toe shoes are perfect because they're a lovely mid-heel and perfect for the Summer! They're great for casual outfits as well as something a bit smarter! I've been looking for some cute peep-toe shoes for a while now and these are great!

Barratts have a great selection of shoes available and they're actually really super stylish and fashionable.

What is your favourite pair of shoes?

Linzi Shoes

Linzi ULLA shoes
Linzi 'ULLA' shoes - £18*

Linzi 'ULLA' shoes

Linzi 'ULLA' shoes

I was recently contacted by Linzi Shoes and was asked if I would like to review a pair of their shoes! Obviously I said yes and I had a browse through and picked out what I think is a gorgeous pair of shoes!

I picked the ULLA pointed toe shoes in black and pink suede!

For £18 I would definitely buy these shoes with my own money, they're so worth it. The site focuses on copying celebrity shoe trends but these aren't really a copy of anyone's which I like. I decided to stay away from heels and opt for flats as that's what I wear most often.

Unfortunately I chose to wear them on a day when it rained and I had to run to the car, but I don't think they're too ruined!

The pink/coral toe is gorgeous and really brightens up the shoe and a whole outfit! There's also a lovely peek of coral at the back as well.

I wore these all day on Friday and they're so tight! I ordered a size 4 which is what size I usually am and I think a 5 would be too big, but they were so tight! Because they have a pointed toe, my toes kind of squish up and they really dig into the back of my heels. I think this is something that can easily be fixed with a little bit of stretching though! A size 5 would definitely be too big so stretching is a must!

Overall I absolutely love these shoes. I love the pointed toe, the suede and the black and pink combination! They arrived super fast as well!

ASOS Vera Pointed Flatforms

ASOS Vera Pointed Flatforms
ASOS Vera Pointed Flatforms - £40

ASOS Vera Pointed Flatforms

ASOS Vera Pointed Flatforms

Not too long ago I posted about one of my new favourite trends; flatforms. I originally wanted the popular 'Willow' flatforms from Office but they were sold out before I was even made aware of them. I searched everywhere for a similar pair but had no luck. Luckily Caroline posted a picture of the ASOS Vera Pointed Flatforms and after talking to her about how comfy they were I just had to order a pair.

I admit that the image online doesn't do them justice at all, they're much lovelier in real life! For some reason I had SUCH a problem ordering them online. I had a code for 20% off but it wouldn't work for me and I was told that the code was for certain customers only, which I didn't think was very fair.

Luckily for me there are some helpful and lovely bloggers in the world as Charli very kindly offered to order them for me using the code and have them sent to my address! I couldn't believe how out of her way Charli went for me so I want to say a HUGE thank you!

The shoes arrived in quick time and luckily they were gorgeous and fit well! I say they fit well, but they actually kept slipping off when I walked, which is something I've found a lot of bloggers to be saying about them! I actually purchased some heel liners to stop this problem and now they're pretty much the perfect pair of shoes!

As you can see the shoes are a soft suede material which means no wearing them in the rain! The shape of them is really comfortable and there's no pinching or blisters!

As a person that doesn't wear heels, these are perfect! They're a bit of a mix of platforms and wedges, but they feel just like you're walking in normal flat shoes, except with a little added height!

What do you think of flatforms? Do you own a pair?

I don't wake up on weekends...

One half of my wardrobe...

Two articles have caught my eye recently, the first was from Company magazine, claiming that British women have £1.6 billion worth of unworn clothes.

As soon as I saw this article I thought it was talking about me personally! I am one of those annoying people that try things on and buy them and then they sit in my wardrobe for years.

"Cumulatively women spend over £1.6 billion on over 500 million items of clothing that are never worn, which if placed on a single clothes rail, would stretch the distance from London to New York over four and a half times over – a distance of 15,534 miles!

Rash purchases are the main reason for an unworn clothing pile up, with 45% of Brits blaming impulse buys for their unfulfilling wardrobes. Despite unworn clothes taking up 5% of storage space, only 12 per cent regularly clear out their wardrobes with 11% saying they only throw away clothes once every three years and 2% once every ten years!"

This is me all over. Rash buys are a forte of mine, especially if I'm shopping alone and don't have any advice on hand. My most unworn items of clothings are skirts, jeans and dresses. I'm not a skirt or dress person as I hate showing off my legs so they just sit in the wardrobe gathering dust. Why do I even buy them in the first place?! Currently there is a black maxi dress stuffed into the bottom of my wardrobe that I've never worn along with a few others.

"Jeans are the most common items of unworn clothes with 88 per cent of Brits saying they own a pair (or more) of denim trousers that they would never been seen out in. 22% of Brits are modern-day Imelda Marcos, hoarding up to 6 pairs shoes and 95 per cent owning tops that will never be worn."

I am the worst person for hoarding shoes. :\ I love shoes and whenever I spot a pair of gorgeous heels, I stupidly buy them, wear them once or twice and then stuff them in the wardrobe. There's currently a pair of heeled clogs, wedges and trainer heels in the bottom of my wardrobe that I can't bare to part with! Ok...maybe the clogs can go on eBay...

I hate getting rid of my clothes because I feel stupidly guiltly, but then I shouldn't have been stupid enough to buy them in the first place! My nan gave me some money towards the clogs so I feel bad about putting them on eBay, even though I know I probably won't wear them again!

The other article that I noticed was from the Daily Mail website (boo, hiss), which gives tips on how to make sure you'll never buy anything you won't wear again.

The tips given are actually quite helpful. I find that shopping alone is always easier as you're not in a rush and can take your time, but the danger of making rash buys is much higher. I personally prefer shopping on my own as I don't have anyone pointing things out for me and generally annoying me. I can just about bare to shop with my sister but other than that, I'd rather be alone!

'Sleeping on it' is a great tip to stop rash buys and it's something I'm definitely going to try next time I'm about to queue up and purchase things I'm never going to wear!

The two articles have inspired me to be much more careful next time I'm shopping. I need to think seriously about whether or not I'm going to wear the items I've picked up and if I do end up making a rash buy, I need to make sure I take it back to the shop straight away and get a refund!

Right, now I'm off to put the clogs on eBay...

Diechmann Grey Ribbon Lace Brogues

I was recently contacted asking if I wanted to review a pair of shoes Styleclone.com.

The shoes I received were the Grey Ribbon Lace Brogues which are selling for £12.99.

Personally, I've never worn Brogues and I've never been 100% sure of them either. I've admired them from afar but haven't felt comfortable enough to wear them myself, however, after trying this cute pair on, I've fallen in love with Brogues and can't wait to start wearing them for non review purposes!

The ribbon laces are a nice touch but I thought they might be a little impractical and will loosen through out the day, therefore, I think they would work better with normal thin Grey laces. The shoes come in a gorgeous rich Grey colour and are really soft to the touch and a black and white gingham pattern peeks out at me cheekily from the insides!

Most importantly, these shoes are comfortable and look great with my skinny jeans. (I was afraid they wouldn't.) They look exactly like the image used on the website which is a huge plus and I genuinely love these shoes, I have been converted!

New Boots

I went to Matalan this morning to meet my sister from work and to have a look at the stock that will be in tomorrows sale. I found a nice bag that my sister has put in the stock room for me, ready for me to buy it at half price tomorrow! Hah hah!

It took me absolutely AGES to decide to buy these boots or not. I saw them, liked them and tried them on but then couldn't decide if I wanted them or not, I couldn't think of outfits to put with them and then the price put me off, £18, and I just kept being undecisive and finally left them in the shop.

Eventually, after looking online I decided I wanted them and so after picking my mum up from work, I went and got them and with 20% off, they were a bargain! They are quite unusual to what I normally wear but I thought I'd try them out. =]
