I don't know about you, but everytime I do my eye make-up, my eyeshadow/liner always leaves a mark above the lid when I blink and my mascara always leaves little dots around my eyes. Every time I apply mascara I then seem to sneeze, leaving big mascara blobs below my eyes. Very attractive.
Usually, I have to use a make-up wipe to correct everything, which is a little annoying, and a waste of wipes if you ask me, so I was really excited to hear about Simple's brand new eye make-up corrector pen.
For £4.99, the price is pretty reasonable and you'll get 16 points if you make your purchase in Boots. The corrector pen claims to remove eye make-up mistakes, including waterproof mascara.
'Its ingenious pen-like design with precision tip dispenses the award-winning Simple Kind To Eyes Eye Make-Up Remover, so you can swiftly and easily wipe away those day-to-day make-up mistakes like smudges, flaking, streaks, and even waterproof mascara, whilst leaving the rest of your make-up untouched. Even better, it contains skin-friendly Pro-Vitamin B5 and contains no colour and no perfume so won’t irritate your sensitive skin.'
The instructions say to hold the pen upside down for 10-15 seconds before use. The pen itself is really easy to use, just colour over the mistake and it's gone in a flash. Perfect! No more using make-up wipes.
However, the instructions suggest that the pen's nib should be cleaned after every use with a make-up wipe, or more specifically, a Simple branded make-up wipe. I understand that the tip will need cleaning, but after every use, really? The whole point in me buying this pen was so I could stop wasting make-up wipes in the morning just to wipe off the odd little mistake, but it turns out I still need to use them to clean the pen.
Surely it wouldn't hurt to not clean the pen every day? I guess this pen is more for carrying in your hand bag or make-up bag ready to whip out during the day to touch up any smudges. Apart from the make-up wipe issue, the pen is really handy and a great product for the price.

I agree that it would be a complete waste to clean it with a make-up wipe after every use! That being said it does sound like a pretty nifty tool to have with you during the day. It would definitely be something I would use and £4.99 is pretty reasonable x
ReplyDeleteit sounds good but does it not leave a little white 'hole' in your makeup if you did under the eye for example? because i know whenever i have to sort out a mistake it gets worse because of my foundation etc coming off aswell! xxx
ReplyDeleteI was really looking forward to this pen, and quite a few bloggers have posted about it.
ReplyDeleteHowever you're still the first to bring up the problem with having to use a make-up wipe! :P I feel kind of silly for not thinking of that, oops!
I think for anyone who is out and needs to reapply their makeup and bodges it up, this little pen is a great idea. I think I'll just stick with make-up wipes though :)
This sounds like a good idea in theory, but the whole using-a-wipe-to-clean seems to defeat the point a bit for me! Awaiting the day for self-cleaning products and then my life will be complete ;) xx
ReplyDeleteI would still like to try this, as it's quite a good idea and £4.99 that's not a bad price, but I can see the flaws in it already! xxx
ReplyDeleteoh you've made me want this! i find myself sneeezing after i do mascara every day! haha love your blog

Oh cool! I have never heard of this before but it looks interesting!
ReplyDeleteInteresting product! I also get mascara all over my lids, especially with L'Oréal Voluminous Carbon Black, the brush is so big!
ReplyDeleteLove this review :)
ReplyDeleteI need to stop using makeup wipes too, i use them all the time!
But how odd that you have to keep on cleaning it off?!?
