Nobody likes you when you're 23

On Thursday I turned the grand old age of 23! And although I certainly don't look or feel any older, I did have a really lovely day, full of lovely presents. I haven't had a chance to blog since as I've been ill for the past few days, but finally I have a day off and have been snapping away all morning!

I had to haul myself out of bed before mum went to work so she could see me open presents. I opened up the lovely Vera Wang Lovestruck Perfume from my parents, some little stationary bits and pieces (which I always love getting) from my Nan and a £25 NEXT giftcard and chocolate from my other Nan and Grandad.

Thankfully I asked for the day off work on my actual birthday, so my dad took me out for a fry up breakfast in the morning and we ended up spending the whole morning looking round the shops in town. I spotted a watch I really liked in a jewellery shop window and my dad brought it for me which was really nice :) I'm not used to wearing a watch so I need to remember to take it off before getting in the shower!

I think I mentioned before that the shoes and top that I wanted from Vince were both out of stock so I didn't really know what he was getting me! Turns out, he got me the Topshop Valerina Velvet Ballet Pumps which are absolutely gorgeous, a Boots Nail Polish set, which I will review soon and the same Vera Wang perfume that my parents got me! I had no idea he was going to get it for me but he said he remembered me saying I wanted it! It was such a shame that my parents already got me it, anyway, he exchanged it for what I thought would be another perfume, but instead he got me an iPad!

To say I was shocked when I opened the iPad is an understatement, but it's so pretty! I'm so so lucky and it's much more convenient than having a laptop! I'm still getting used to it and trying to figure out how to blog with it! I'm able to access Blogspot, but unable to click the 'Upload Image' button as it's greyed out. If anyone knows how to get round this, please let me know!

Vince came round in the evening and brought it with him, so after our lovely Chinese, we managed to get it all set up! I've since installed iOS5 and have downloaded lots of apps such as Angry Birds, and I can't wait to download some books and magazines on it as well!

So, overall I had a brilliant birthday and love all of my presents! I'm glad I'm finally feeling better as I can now get some posts lined up for this week. On Wednesday I went out and brought a few bits and pieces in order to review, so keep checking back!

A treat from Very

When the lovely people from Very contacted me and asked if I'd like to pick an item of clothing to review, I jumped at the chance! I browsed the Online catalogue for ages and ages and couldn't decide. Did I want something new, that I wouldn't usually try or did I want something that I know I'd be comfortable in and wear regularly. I decided that I didn't want to choose something just for the sake of having it, so I decided to choose something I needed; and while I didn't choose something spectacular, I chose something that is distinctly lacking from my wardrobe...shorts.

I've been going on and on about having a pair of shorts for the winter, that I could wear with some lovely thick tights and my new ankle boots from Internacionale, and when I spotted the Love Label Petite Denim High Waisted Shorts worth £25, I knew they would be mine!

I actually really love Very. I know you can get into a lot of debt if you use their pay later service, like my mum does, but they're clothes are really great. I'm currently wearing a pair of black skinny jeans and they fit like a charm! Usually I'm really fussy with jeans and have been wearing Topshop's Ultra Skinny ones for a long time but they're too expensive and wear out really easily, finally splitting in the same place on both pairs I had. I decided that enough was enough and my mum ordered me a pair from Very which are perfect, and half the price! But anyway...back to the point...

I love Very's celebrity collections from the likes of Diana Vickers, Holly Willoughby and Fearne Cotton, but their Love Label range consists of some great quality, every day clothing.

As I mentioned, I chose the Love Label Petite Denim High Waisted Shorts and I'm so so glad that I did! I was a bit wary of sizing, but opted for a 10 and they fit perfectly! I love high waisted shorts and jeans as they make your legs look longer and just give a bit of interest to something that is otherwise a bit common. The shorts are so cute and I love the addition of the turned up hem as well as additional detailing on the buttons and labels.

The shorts are really comfortable and are a little stretchy, so great for when you have a big lunch! You can pair them with pretty much anything, but I went for my new Polka dot sheer blouse from Tesco, which I think works well?

Despite the gormless look, I have finally got around to posting some outfit photos! Outfit photos are always very rare on this blog as my camera isn't great (as you can tell) and the only place I can take them is if I stand on my bed, infront of the window for all of the neighbours to see! Anyway, I absolutely love the shorts and want to thank the lovely girls at Very for letting me pick them!

Wednesday Wishlist #6 - Birthday Style

Tomorrow is my birthday!! I turn the grand old age of 23, despite still feeling like I'm about 18 and still looking like I'm 12. Choosing what I want for my birthday this year has been such a nightmare as everything I've asked for has gone out of stock, or can't be found in the shops around here. I should have planned my present wishlist earlier I suppose, so it's my own fault!

I've decided that despite most of it being out of stock still, I'd make this week's Wednesday Wishlist post, a birthday inspired one and include everything I've asked for! Whether I'll be getting it or not is another question, I guess I'll have to wait and see! Some of the stuff has featured in past wishlists already so you may recognise it!

Wednesday Wishlist #6
Topshop: Velvet Ballet Pumps, Studded Slippers, Peter Pan Top
ASOS: Stripey Tee with Lace Collar
Boots: Vera Wang Lovestruck

Quite frankly, who hasn't had these shoes on their wishlists? I'm so gutted that the studded slippers are sold out as they were my first choice, but the velvet pumps are really cute too, though not rainy weather friendly!

What's even more annoying is the fact that I ordered the stripey tee with the lace collar and then cancelled the order because I thought I could ask for it for my birthday anyway. Then, when Vince went to order it, it was sold out! Argh!

I asked my parents for the perfume and then had to spend ages describing it through text message to my mum as she stood in Boots getting it confused with the Marc Jacobs Daisy and Lola perfumes! I finally found it in Boots today and showed her so hopefully that will be in my possession tomorrow! If not, I went for the new Loverdose perfume as my next choice!

Originally I asked for the studded slippers and then the stripey tee from Vince, but as both are sold out I have no idea what he's getting me now!

I don't think I'll be doing anything too special to celebrate this year, I have the day off work which will be nice and will be meeting up with friends on the Friday, but other than that, it's just another year passing by! Now, where's my walking stick?
