Bathroom biggies

Bathroom beauties

Make way for the big guns of bathroom beauty! Last week's post featured some of my fave mini miracle bathroom products such as bath gels, shower gels and bubble baths but this week's post is dedicated to some of the bigger products I use on a regular basis.

My Aussie Aussome Volume Shampoo is one I use religiously. I do tend to have little breaks from it as my hair can get a bit used to it and the volumising action isn't as noticeable but it is definitely one I keep coming back to. It smells so amazing as most of you probably know and the size of the bottle means it lasts forever!

I'm actually rotating the Aussie shampoo with the new L'Oreal Fibrology shampoo, which I dedicated a post to yesterday, but about once a week I use Toni & Guy's Cleanse Shampoo as a bit of a detox/treatment for my hair. It removes dirt and product build up from the hair and it leaves it feeling lovely and soft and clean. I'd definitely recommend!

In the bathroom I have a normal shower gel that I use, but it's unscented so I like to get some extra little scented goodies such as Dove's Go Fresh shower cream in Blue Fig. This is an amazing scent that just fills the entire bathroom and lingers on the skin for a good while after application.

For moisturisers I always go for Nivea's In Shower Body Moisturiser, which is absolutely amazing. It's lovely and thick and creamy so I tend to use loads but it leaves the skin feeling super duper soft all day long. For £3.40 you can't really go wrong. I'm going to be upping my usage of this as spring/summer arrives and I try to get my legs looking somewhat presentable for dress wearing.

L'Oreal Elvive Fibrology Thickening Shampoo

L'Oreal Elvive Fibrology Thickening Shampoo

L'Oreal Elvive Fibrology Thickening Shampoo
L'Oreal Elvive Fibrology Thickening Shampoo - £3.99

Oops, seems I have bought into the latest beauty trend that is this wonderful thickening shampoo. As someone who has really fine hair that I can never do anything with, I was really interested to try this out. I read a couple of reviews on various other blogs and people were really raving about it. I wasn't aware it had been released yet but I spotted it on the shelves in my local Boots and didn't hesitate to pick it up.

There are a couple of products in the range including a conditioner, a masque and a thickening treatment but I thought I'd give the shampoo a try first as I didn't want to get the whole lot if it wasn't going to work. How silly I was. I should have picked up everything in the range there and then and gone home and smothered it all over my head because I absolutely love this stuff!

Now for the techy bit - the products contain Filloxane, which penetrates the hair fibres and subsequently 'expands', making your hair feel thicker and fuller. The product claims to keep improving after each use and even continues to work once you've stopped using it. I'm not sure how true this claim is but I'd be interested to see how my hair feels once the bottle is empty and I've stopped using it for a little while.

Even after the first wash I was really impressed with this product. As I mentioned I have quite fine hair and it's really hard to do anything with it. Products don't really stay in my hair and any volume falls out after a couple of hours. I used the shampoo as normal and after drying it felt a lot thicker than usual. My hair looked like it contained volume product but in actual fact, it was shampoo only. This is something I love because in the mornings I can't be bothered with all different types of products so to be able to wash and go and have some volume in my hair for a good part of the day is great!

The shampoo actually smells really nice too and I found I could smell it on my hair quite a few hours later. It also left my hair feeling super soft all day long.

For £3.99 this product is a ridiculous bargain. The shampoo and conditioner bottles are huge and will last absolutely ages. I am definitely intending to pick up the hair masque and possibly the treatment too. I've recommended this to my sister and my mum already, who have both picked it up and I will recommend it to anyone else who will listen!

Have you tried this? Has it made your hair thick and voluminous?

The Sunday Catch Up #4

Ahh pay day! It felt like SUCH a long time coming and now it's been and gone and I've spent a ton already. Oops.

Yesterday Vince took me to Bristol as I was definitely due a shopping trip. I had lots of gift cards to spend so I bought a couple of bits in New Look, Boots, Next and of course, Primark. I picked up so much in Primark that I couldn't actually be bothered to have a look round the rest of the floors, that's when you know you've had enough and it's time to call it a day. It was a really nice day though and Vince and I also had lunch at Wagamamma's, which was relish as usual.

My week was pretty busy at work actually. On Wednesday I had some urgent work to do for 9am so I thought to myself that I'd leave for work a bit early, arrive early and get the work ready/done BUT my alarm didn't go off, for the first time ever!! I couldn't believe it! I literally jumped out of bed and rushed around getting ready, yelling at Vince to grab my lunch or do this and that and then I jumped in the car and whizzed off to work. I thought the traffic would be terrible but I actually got to work dead on 9am! I'm one of those people who hates being late so I really got that terrible panicking feeling when I saw my alarm said 8am. I usually leave at 7.50am, eek!

Vince has had a week off work this week, which makes a change. He works as a Head Chef at a hotel on the seafront so he barely ever gets time off, which is extremely annoying and inconvenient. He had this week off but he didn't know about it until the week before, which isn't enough notice for me to book a week off. One day we will manage to have a holiday together, I swear! He's enjoyed snuggling under the duvet every morning taunting me, which is really not fair!! He's had lots of time to relax and he even got two new tattoos as well. He was planning one of them for a while and it looks great but the other was a bit spontaneous as the tattooists had a cancellation so he thought 'why not?'.

I don't have much planned for the coming week. I might try and see my nan and my nan and grandad at some point as it's been quite a while.

What have you been up to this week?
