Glossybox June 2012
There's been lots of drama surrounding Glossybox this month that has disappointed me, but I've tried not to let that cloud my judgement of this box.

When I first opened the box I was a bit 'meh' about it. I personally think the Glossybox brush shouldn't have been a main product and the Vichy Dermablend starter kit is labelled as a stick in the little information leaflet. It's quite clearly not a stick and not worth £19!

The bronzer probably won't come in to much use from me. I don't really like BM Beauty's packaging, it's very plain and cheap looking.

I was however, impressed with the Caudalie perfume sample. I'm sick of stupid sized samples in annoying cardboard, this is a proper sample and if I can prize the top off, it could be re-filled with a different scent!

I was also impressed with the tweezers as I've finally got an HD Brows product now and can hopefully see what all the fuss is about!

This month's box isn't too bad! The bronzer will probably find a new home with someone else and the brush will sit alongside some of my others and might come in handy one day. I'm interested to try the Vichy foundation kit but I don't really wear foundation often.

The perfume and tweezers will come in extremely handy and they've impressed me hugely! Good job Glossybox!

I can't believe Glossybox has been around for a year. I did have a bit of a break in the middle of last year for a few months but decided to sign up again.

The boxes have been very hit and miss and I'm surprised this month's box didn't have as much hype around it as other boxes have in the past, considering it's their special birthday box.

On first inspections I wasn't sure about this months box. I don't wear false eyelashes or really use hair treatment oils so I think they will either be passed on or perhaps sold.

I really like the perfume samples and am looking forward to trying a new face mask out. I was really happy to see a sixth product in the box in the form of a compact mirror which was nice.

The products are all really good sizes actually. The shower gel will probably last a good few weeks and I'll definitely chuck the mirror into my bag and use it daily. The perfume samples are really my type as they're lovely and sweet and floral smelling.

It's not an amazing box but it isn't too bad either, it's certainly worth the money in my opinion though.

Happy birthday Glossybox!

Lancôme Hypnôse Drama

A little later than planned but I thought better late than never! This has got to be the most hyped up Glossybox ever. The spoilers were out way in advance of the box's release so pretty much everyone knew what to expect, and pretty much everyone wanted a miniature Burberry lipstick. Cue lots of complaints when they didn't receive one.

I was pretty glad I didn't get a Burberry Lipstick if I'm honest. Although my mum was disappointed! I hate that beauty boxes are always packed with lipgloss and lipstick. I think it's just playing it safe and beauty boxes need to have a bit more imagination! Of course Burberry is an amazing brand to have in your box so whoever did get one should be grateful!

I was a bit disappointed to see two cardboard samples in the box as they don't really scream luxury to me. The perfume is quite nice but the face oil will probably not be of any use to me! But I was so excited to see the Lancome Hypnose Drama mascara as I've wanted to try it for absolutely ages!

The Molton Brown shower gel took me a little while to get used to. The scent is SO strong but after a while it kind of grew on me. The bathroom smells quite nice after using it, and so do I!

I wasn't impressed to see Clarins again. I know it's a great brand/product but we had Clarins products two months ago and I haven't even used them, so this one probably won't get used either. I'll certainly give the SKII-Skin moisturising cream a go as it's a brand I've never heard of before, and that's what Glossybox is all about.

I probably won't be buying any of these products in full size. They're from Harrods for a start, which means they're probably expensive and I noticed that Glossybox didn't include the prices of full size products in the little note. I think they've alienated a lot of their customers with the complimentary hard/arm massage from Harrods stores...I doubt when I go in June that the offer will still be on! Gutted!

Overall it's not really too bad of a box, but there's bit some right dramas over it. People will never be happy! My favourites have definitely got to be the mascara and shower gel! Lovely!

Glossybox February 2012

Oh Glossybox. This past week or so you have disappointed me beyond belief.

Apparently Glossybox have been having a lot of payment problems, and guess who suffered from them? Moi! My payment was unsuccessful around four or five times and each time I received unpersonal, repetitive emails from the customer service department.

I emailed Glossybox a few times and again was told the same as before, so I took it upon myself to contact my bank and find out exactly what the problem was. It turns out that Glossybox were trying to take the payment via Credit Card when it should have been via Debit Card.

I went on to ring Glossybox, telling them exactly what the problem was and I was told that the message would be passed on to the payment team and then I got the typical 'we want you to receive you're Glossybox as much as you do,' blah, blah, blah. It turns out that the message wasn't passed on at all and I still received computer generated emails telling me that if payment continued to be unsuccessful by Friday, then someone woud be in contact with me. No one got in contact with me.

In the end, because I wanted my Glossybox at the same time as everyone else got theres (which still didn't happen), I unsubscribed from the box and resubbed using Paypal as my payment option. Payment was then taken successfully, on 17th Feb, and I heard nothing more from anyone at Glossybox.

Glossybox posts are actually some of my highest viewed posts on my blog so I hate to be behind with my reviews of the boxes. Because of all the payment problems, I received my box late and saw plenty of spoilers beforehand, which didn't fill me with excitement.

So after much annoyance, a few Twitter and Facebook comments ending in no result/help and a long wait, my box arrived.

Contents: Como Shambhala Shower Gel, DR Bronner Hand Sanitiser, Awapuhi by Paul Mitchell Hair Treatment Oil, Becca Cheek & Lip Tint, BM Beauty Eyeshadow
When I opened this months box I was really unimpressed. All of the products had fallen under the tissue paper into the corner and it just looked really unappealing. I think Glossybox could probably get away with cutting their box size in half.

The theme of this months box is London Fashion Week, which I'm not really keen on as most of us weren't at LFW, and this box just kind of rubbed that fact in a bit. Even if I was at LFW, I'm not sure these would be my essentials for the week either. I was also disappointed to see a repeat product in the form of Como Shambhala. Granted, this is a much larger version and I got a Shower Gel instead of a Moisturiser, but the whole idea of Glossybox is to discover new products, not to keep trying the same ones over again. I am glad that I got a shower gel though as you can never have too many!

The Becca Cheek & Lip Tint is a brand I've never heard of before but I don't really like or use Lip/Cheek products, so I'll probably pass it on to my sister.

Becca Cheek & Lip Tint

I'm yet to use the Awapuhi by Paul Mitchell Hair Treatment Oil but on first impressions, I think it could make my hair too greasy as it is oil based, but it has a lovely smell and is quite thick so I think just a little product will go a long way.

I'm pretty sure I've heard of BM Beauty before, but have never tried their products before. I received the BM Beauty Eyeshadow in Her Majesty which is a shimmering pink shade and not usually something I'd go for. I think it could work if blended into another, darker shade. It looks like it will be quite a messy product due to the loose minerals, a bit like Barry M Dazzle Dust. The packaging is really unappealing and cheap looking but the product is quite vibrant and pigmented so I think it will be a hit with a lot of people.

BM Beauty Eyeshadow in Her Majesty

I was most disappointed in the DR Bronner Hand Sanitiser. I understand it's reasoning for being in the LFW themed box but as someone who can't use hand sanitiser due to it causing my hands to inflame and get very dry and itchy, so this product is completely useless to me. I'll probably give it to someone else.

I think my first impressions of the box have changed slightly. The eyeshadow isn't too bad and I'll probably use it when I feel like doing a more 'girly' make-up look. The shower gel will probably be put in my bathroom for everyone to use and I think the Hair Treatment Oil would come in handy once I've finished my current products, but the Lip/Cheek tint and Hand Sanitiser will probably go to good homes.

I think the initial bad customer service and payment problems made me want to hate the box but there are some good points alongside the bad ones. Glossybox tend to have a run of really good, impressive boxes and then they bring out one like this, that divides people's opinions and gets them talking all over the blogging community. All press is good press. So I think Glossybox know exactly what they're doing.
I'm going to stay subscribed to the box, but I'm also trying new, different boxes that are being released. I'm intrigued about their mysterybox and I'm hoping there's good things to come. If you do want to sign up for the box, you can do so HERE.

Glossybox January 2012

I'm almost a week late on the old Glossybox post aren't I? I know everyone's probably sick of reading them, but I love writing them, I love receiving the boxes and they're always really popular posts so ner :P

Glossybox January 2012
Glossybox - January 2012 - £10 plus £2.95 postage.

This is Glossybox's second limited edition box and I think I actually prefer this hot pink colour to the normal pale pink boxes! I was really excited to get this month's box but had to wait a little longer than usual as it was sent out a week late.

I completely understand why Glossybox have sent the Valentines box now, but I wouldn't have minded actually receiving it in February, whether it was after Feb 14th or not as it would have actually felt more like a Valentines box to me. That's pretty much the only little niggle I had with the box this month, I actually love the contents of it and I'm so pleased that I scored the box with the Clarins products in it!

EYEKO Skinny Eyeliner - £9.50
Clarins Extra Firming Night Cream - Full Size £48
Clarins Extra Firming Day Cream - Full Size - £46
FAB Gentle Body Wash - £10
Murad Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer Dewy Finish - Full Size £29

I'm really impressed with the contents of this months box. I've been so keen to try the new rebranded EYEKO products, but thought they were a tad too expensive, so haven't purchased any.

The handle of the eyeliner is a little weird, and I think in most cases, probably isn't needed? I'm sure I can apply eyeliner without a huge handle on the pencil, it's probably going to be more of a hindrance rather than a help. I received a lovely Plum shade and I'm so glad I got a dark shade as I wouldn't have been happy with anything else!

As I mentioned above, I'm really happy with the Clarins products and they're a brand I've wanted to try for a long time. I can't wait to start using them and I really hope they work for me and my nuisance skin!

Clarins Extra Firming Night and Day Creams

I had no idea that the FAB brand was sold in Boots! I can't wait to try out the body wash and see if it's claims of being 'gentle' really are true. I find a lot of body wash's are too harsh and leave my skin irritated, so this will be a real test!

FAB Gentle Body Wash

I have swatched the MURAD Primer but it looks a little dark for my skin. That could be the lighting in my bedroom, so I need to try it out in some good lighting before really deciding. It's a nice little product, and a good size too.

MURAD Perfecting Skin Primer

Overall, this months Glossybox is a definite hit! I can see myself using all of the products (MURAD Primer permitting) and I have yet another box to use as storage! Hooray!

Glossybox December 2011

Finally! The much anticipated December GlossyBox is here! The November box was a huge hit with me so I was expecting great things from the Christmas box and it certainly hasn't disappointed!

Glossybox December 2011

Glossybox December 2011

What was in the box?

Longer, thicker, sexier. Give your natural lashes a stunning flake-free waterproof boost.

  • Cargo Cosmetics Classic Lip Gloss
Cargo's new Lip Gloss formulation! Perfect shades, great wear and high-shine without being sticky.

  • Deborah Lippmann Razzle Dazzle Mini Nail Varnish with Stripped To Go Sachet
Party glitter nail colour with a sachet of the most amazing polish remover finger nail mitt.

  • MEMEME Seventh Heaven
A luxurious moisturising facebase enriched with active nutrients and extracts to prime and nourish the skin.

  • Rituals Foaming Shower Gel
This unique foaming shower gel gently cleanses your skin and leaves it silky soft and smooth.

I am so so happy with this box and love all of the products!

    Deborah Lippmann Razzle Dazzle Polish

    MEMEME Seventh Heaven Moisturising Facebase

    Cargo Cosmetics Lip Gloss

Rituals Shower Gel and Blink & Go Mascara

I was so excited to see a Deborah Lippmann nail polish in there as this is a brand that I've always wanted to try. Although named as a 'mini' polish, it's still quite a good size and is lovely and sparkly, perfect for Christmas!

It's one of those glitter polishes that are always a nightmare to remove, but it actually came with a 'Stripper Mitt' which took the polish off with no problem! I'd definitely recommend using this over a sink or something because it's very messy. When I opened the packet it splashed in my face and if you squeeze the mitt it's literally dripping in remover, but it does a great job!

I was also really excited to see a product from MEMEME Cosmetics, which I've also been wanting to try but have held off because of the pricing.

I received the moisturising facebase which is a great size and a lovely product. It's got a great scent and I love the cute packaging. I've yet to try it on my face as I'm always wary of skincare products but this could make a lovely little stocking filler for someone else!

    MEMEME Seventh Heaven Moisturising Facebase

The Cargo Lipgloss looks really lovely but I hate wearing lipglosses, so this will probably be given to someone else!

I was excited to see a shower gel in the box because that's like a Christmas present staple isn't it. I love that it's a foaming gel and it smells delicious, I'll definitely be using it all up!

A few people received the Blink & Go mascara, while others received an eyeshadow/blush palette, which I think I would have preferred. I really need a new mascara but I wasn't completely won over by this one, it's a bit clumpy and stringy once applied so only one or two layers is needed. I like the fact that it's waterproof and I'll probably use it occasionally, it's a great size and I love the packaging!

So what do you think of your December GlossyBox? I honestly think it's the best yet and I can't wait to see what they come up with for 2012!

    Glossybox November 2011

There seems to be a pattern immerging with GlossyBox, in the way that one month people will be heaping huge amounts of praise on them, and the next, they'll be bitterly disappointed and demanding refunds.

To be honest, I think there's absolutely no need for it. When we signed up to GlossyBox, we knew what we were getting in to, so, if one month you don't like a box then it's really simple to unsubscribe instead of being damn right rude on the company's Facebook page. I subscribed a while back and missed out on two months worth of boxes, I couldn't bare to be missing out so signed up again and am really glad I did. I'm by no means disappointed with this months box and am extremely excited for the Christmas box!

I'll admit that I looked at a few reviews Online before I got my box and it seems that we all got a few different things to each other, which is great as we can all swap and change to get what we want?

I was really hoping for the Illamasqua Freak Eau De Parfum as I was interested in giving it a little sniff, and there was no way I was going to pay £59 for it without trying it first. I have to say, I don't really like it! It's much too strong for me and when I put it on yesterday, Vince said I smelt like a man! Obviously, people's tastes differ so I'm sure someone else will absolutely love it.

I was really excited to see some Black and White Nail Rock Wraps in the box, as I've never tried them before! I would have preferred a more exciting design, perhaps the red lace ones, but these will do! I've used nail wraps in the past and they're tricky so I'll have to let you know how I get on with these! They'll be great for putting on just before my work experience starts! I'll be sure to post some pics!

The Monu Revitalising Moisturiser and the Arbonne FC5 Ultra Hydrating Hand Crème are both products I've never heard of or tried before, but this is what GlossyBox is all about, and they both sound lovely and right up my street. The moisturiser is for Normal/Combination skin and mine is particularly sensitive and dry so I'm not sure whether I'll be using it on a daily basis, but it does seem lovely. It smells great and sinks in pretty fast as well as being a really good size, so I'm pleased!

I'm in desperate need of hand crème as I suffer with Psoriasis and am constantly trying out products in the hope that they wont trigger it. It contains fresh Kiwi cell extracts which means it smells amazing and you only need a tiny pea sized amount which means it will last ages!

Last, but not least, lets discuss the Dead Sea Spa Magik Dead Sea Bath Salts, which have caused a lot of controversy over the past few days. People expect 'high-end' products in the box and I can see why they might be disappointed, but...and that's a big but, has no one but me ever heard that the Dead Sea is pretty much the best place in the world to go to for skin conditions and complaints? Dip yourself in the Dead Sea and your skin will transform, but as we can't all travel thousands of miles to try it out so these bath salts are the next best thing!

I was probably looking forward to the Bath Salts more than any other product in the box! I believe people are put off by the plastic bag packaging, but look at the amount of salts you get, that's enough for about a hundred baths! The product is a 2011 Beauty Award winner which is why they've been put in the box. They alleviate dry and flaky skin conditions - which I suffer with and they also help soften and improve the skin. I can't wait to run myself a bath and try these out, I just need to keep them hidden away from my mum who is bound to steal them!

I'm extremely happy with this box, and if you noticed on the pink piece of card it was labelled as 'The Christmas Gift Guide Part 1' which means Part 2 can only get better! When people open the boxes, I think they broadcast their opinions straight away, before having a read through and proper look at all the products. If you're expecting Nars and other high-end make-up every month then you've probably not understood the reason for the box and I'd advise you to unsubscribe, but personally I love this box and can't wait to see where Glossybox goes in the future.
