In the end it's all about where you want to go...

I now have a great excuse to buy some cute baby Converse trainers!! I'm going to be an Aunty! My little sister announced the news on Tuesday and although I thought my mum was joking when she first told me, I am very excited! It's due in July so will be a nice summer baby and I'm convinced it's going to be a boy!

In other news, I had another job interview yesterday at Hotel Chocolat. There's a cute little branch of the shop in my local shopping centre and I applied for a Senior Sales position. I think the interview went pretty well and it was fun trying the chocolate and describing it! I should hopefully hear back in the next week or so, fingers crossed!

I don't think I was successful with the Miss Selfridge job as they told me I'd hear back from them towards the end of the week. It's now Friday and I've yet to hear anything, so it's not looking good! I'm starting to desperately need a job now as my funds are getting lower and lower and I have a two week work experience placement to save up for! Travelling to London and back everyday costs a LOT!

Vince and I have come back home for the weekend as we had a gig to watch in Bristol last night. I originally requested an interview with A Day To Remember as they were playing Bristol. Everything looked like it was going to work out until about two days before when the band's press officer just completely stopped replying to my emails. She had seemed up for letting me interview the band for AmpedReviews.net and was even going to let me film it but then all of a sudden, I didn't hear another word from her. I would rather she emailed me to tell me it wasn't possible than to just ignore me and leave me hanging, it was very frustrating!

We decided to head to the gig anyway as I had already purchased the tickets and it was such a nightmare trying to park in Bristol. We didn't want to park in the car park next door to the venue as it would cost a bomb so we ended up driving around Bristol for about 40 minutes looking for a space! In the end, we parked about 20 minutes away and ended up walking to the venue. Once inside, we found that there was absolutely nowhere to go in order to be able to see the band! Everywhere was full as the gig was sold out, we ended up right at the back of the venue standing on the balcony furthest away. We had a pretty bad view and could just about make out the drummer, but as people started moving about we were able to see a bit better. The show itself was amazing, one of the best I've seen in a long time! They played one of my favourite songs acoustically, which they've never done before, so I was very pleased!

Tomorrow we're off out to meet our friends for an all you can eat buffet at The Mall. With us being in Southampton most of the time, we don't get enough chances to meet up, so deciding that we deserved a bit of a treat, we're going to eat until we're sick! Other than that, we're having a pretty relaxed weekend. We go back to Southampton on Sunday afternoon where we have another gig to go to, this time it's the Kerrang! Relentless Energy Tour which I'm going to review for Portsmouth News. :)

Until then...have a great weekend everyone!

Opportunities...

I'm glad people are starting to like my product reviews, I love doing them! It gives me a great excuse to go out and buy things, although I probably really shouldn't! I've just received some cute products from Eyeko.com, so I'll be reviewing those soon!

It's very hard to write a blog post when the majority of what I've been up to includes sitting in front of a laptop or TV for most of the day. However, last night I went to watch Kids In Glass Houses at Southampton Guildhall. I have to say they were pretty good. For a change, we decided to sit in the balcony and what a good choice we made! We had comfy seats and could see everything that was going on. It also gave me the chance to write as I watched, without getting bashed into my sweaty people.

Here are some not so good pics, taken on my Blackberry:

The lights at the back were pretty mesmerizing and distracting as they kept morphing into different shapes and colours.

As I was on the Guestlist for the gig, I didn't take any money with me, but when I got to the Guestlist entrance, the guy there told me I had to make a £5 charity donation. I'm really skint at the moment and obviously didn't take any money, which I explained but he said if I didn't make a donation, I wasn't getting in. I didn't have much of a choice really, so we went to get some cash and we were allowed back in, only to witness the girl in front be let through without making a donation. I thought donations were optional?!

I reviewed the gig for Portsmouth News, which hopefully means it will be printed in the newspaper, like my other review was. When I first signed up to write for them, I believed that my reviews were only going to be on the website, but having them printed is a great surprise and means I have more to put into my portfolio!

I had an offer of an short Internship at Top Sante magazine recently. There were a few dates to chose from, including January next year, which I opted for, but sadly it was already taken. They offered me a placement for November but I had to turn it down because I just don't have the money to travel to London every day for three weeks, or even stay there. They did offer £50 a week travel expenses, but for a week of travelling it costs about £120 and I still just can't afford it. It's a real shame because it probably would have been a good Internship, at three weeks long, there certainly would have been a chance of getting stuck into things, instead of sitting in the office sorting the post every day. :( Hopefully another opportunity will come along, when I'm a little richer!

What's the point in a post-it note that doesn't stick?

That's what I always wonder with the rubbish post-it notes I have! I've actually started blu taccing them around the place because they are so rubbish.

Well tonight I was supposed to be going to watch Vince play a gig at the SU but I got a text message when he was supposed to pick me up, saying that sound check went really badly and the whole sound of the Union wasn't good so I wouldn't be missing much if I stayed home, so I did, and it turns out the gig went well and sounded good and lots of people turned up, so I could have actually gone in the end. =\

So instead of sitting and doing nothing all evening I wrote out some interview questions for Young Guns and I also contacted the PR people for The Blackout and Funeral For A Friend to try and get some interviews done with those guys as well! I initially emailed them asking if they would answer questions for my Major Project/Dissertation but they wanted a full interview or nothing, so I've stuck my dissertation questions in there as well. Typical PR people.

Tomorrow is going to be 100% work day! I got an email back from my lecturer about my Timeline feature and she said just to keep writing until I cover everything and we can edit it on Thursday, so I'm going to be writing thousands and thousands of words tomorrow!

Today was a do nothing/go shopping kind of day, woops! I had to go and pick up my perscription from the doctors and then I wondered into town to look for Valentines presents, but I won't tell you what I got Vince incase he reads this but I hope he likes it! I just have to share my growing hatred for Primark. Does anything in that shop have any shape to it? The only decent things I can buy and wear from there are socks and the two jumpers that I have. Everything else is shapeless and shabbily made. There I said it, hate me. :P

Onto a completely different subject now, Style Eyes has listed me in her 10 blogs that make her happy! I'm so happy that someone actually reads this thing!! :D Thank you so much!

Just a sweet reminder that I am running my £25 Topshop Voucher giveaway! until Sunday! I already have 16 entrants which is great! I've decided I'm going to get Vince to pick the winning name out of a hat for me!

Well..

You know theres always that one band that you just HAVE to see live, and although they aren't actually my favourite band, I had to see Green Day live. I've been a fan for years and years now and I've gone through stages of listening to them furiously and then not listening to them for ages.

I really wanted to see them live when they came to the UK last time, which was quite a few years ago now so I was mega happy that I got tickets to their 2009 UK tour and I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was for me to get tickets, I literally bought mine a minute before they were meant to go on sale, which was weird?!

Anyway, the show was amazing, intense, brilliant, inspiring and every great describing word you can imagine. For a band that are the same age as I am, they are extremely impressive live, they know how to hold the audience in the palms of their hands and they just love to lap up all the attention from the crowd. It was an awesome awesome awesome gig, one of the best I've been to. I loved every moment of it, especially the encore of Wake Me Up When September Ends and Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) which was played on acoustic guitar, with a spotlight and 16,000 singing all at the same time, which is the best sound ever.

I am just hoping they bring out a DVD of their current tour so I can relive it all again, haha. The only down side was that we had to leave early this morning because I had a presentation to do. I wanted to go into the city centre and do a bit of shopping, but maybe it was lucky that we didn't because I really can't afford it at the moment!

Tomorrow will be a day of work I think, have to pop to the library to take a book back because some damn person has requested it and I haven't even looked at it yet! But other than that, I'm going to try and get my Ugly Betty feature finished as well as trying to write a review of last nights show.

On with the pictures!
