When pay day rolled around on January 1 I knew this would happen...as soon as I stepped into the Christmas gift aisle in Boots a few weeks before Christmas I knew I'd find myself right back there again in the January sales. The aisles were absolutely packed full even after the Christmas rush, but everything was half price and everyone was getting in on the action...one couple had bags and bags of products, obviously buying up their pressies for the following Christmas.

I practically had to squeeze myself down the aisles but I managed to pick up quite a few good bargains, I must say I was really impressed.

I curled my hair on Christmas Day and within half an hour it fell out so I was on the hunt for some curling products to help hold the style. I was really pleased when I came across the Umberto Giannini A Curl Story set, which was £8 down from £16, can you believe it? I'm really keen to try the bendy rollers and to see if the products actually hold a curl in place! I will report back.

I also picked up the Umberto Giannini Glambox which is a really cute set of miniature products including gold and silver glitter sprays and nail polishes. I did attempt glitter roots but I wasn't able to get a good photograph unfortunately so the idea was promptly scrapped. I'll leave it to the pros! The set is really cute and has everything you need for styling including mousse, dry shampoo, backcomb in a bottle and hairspray. It was a bargain at £9 down from £18!

Lastly I picked up a Matthew Williamson for Toni & Guy wash bag set and I have to admit I did buy this just for the bag alone as it makes such a nice little bag for travelling or to use as a makeup bag. I've been eyeing this up for months and months! It contains a full size dry shampoo, which I'm looking forward to trying out, a heat protector spray and a hair oil, which I also can't wait to try out and the best thing is, it was only £6 down from £12. You would probably spend close to £6 for the dry shampoo alone.

Overall I'm super happy with the bargains I picked up, did you pick up any good bargains in the sales this year? Let me know in the comments.

Barry M Silk nail polishes

L'Oreal Cleansing Milk

This is becoming a regular feature isn't it? So, on Saturday I popped to town to spend the last of what I had left on my vouchers but I also ended up spending much too much money in Superdrug. I don't usually go to Superdrug but nothing in Boots caught my eye, which is unusual. It didn't have the latest Barry M silk polishes so I thought I'd boycott it this week and go to its rival.

The polishes were £3.99 each and on buy one get one free I think. I couldn't decide which colours to go for so decided to go for four of them! Oopsie! I'm hoping to run a nail week on the blog soon so thought these might be a nice feature. The colours are gorgeous, especially the blue and purple. Lovely!

I also picked up the L'oreal Cleansing Milk. I have the Micellar water already and didn't think much of it so I thought I'd pick this up and see how I got on with it. I have a cleanser that I use regularly but I feel my skin is getting too used to it so it's time to change things up a bit. I will let you know how I get on.

Did you pick up any goodies this week?

Oops, it happened again. On Saturday I went to my local town with my family for a change. I didn't really go shopping mad as my mum had to go get her eyes tested and then we met my sister and my niece in Cafe Nero, but I did manage to pick up a few little bits.

I know The Body Shop isn't really a drugstore but we'll gloss over that for the sake of this post. I had read a few reviews of the Vitamin E Overnight Serum in Oil and all of them were extremely positive so I thought I would pop in and pick one up to see what all of the fuss is about. At the moment my skin is suffering from some kind of weird redness/dryness so I've held off using this until it calms down a bit. I'm sure there will be a review soon!

I also picked up one of the hair chalks. I think at the moment there's only blue or pink available so I picked up the blue as I thought it would show better in my brown hair. For £5 this is a real bargain. I would have expected this to be much more expensive and I'm looking forward to trying it out and comparing it to a more expensive one I have yet to feature here.

On Saturday morning I had a quick browse of a couple of beauty blogs and found some of the new Collection Work the Colour eye palettes. They're super cheap at £2.99 and contain a huge selection of shadows. Unfortunately they're a bit horrible to photograph as they're made from that horrible shiny plastic, but I can't wait to see what the shades are like.

So there we have it, yet more products I've bought. I'm starting to build up quite a collection of products that are all in line to review for the blog.

What have you picked up this week?

I think this is probably going to become quite a regular series on the blog. This past weekend I went to Bristol for a big shopping trip and I also popped to my local Boots on Sunday to pick up some of the things I forgot to get in Bristol.

First one my list was Soap & Glory's Bright Here Bright Now. I pretty much bought this based on the name alone. I actually used it for the first time on Sunday morning as I felt like going make-up free for the day and I absolutely loved it. It was £8, which isn't too expensive I suppose, but I'm so glad I got it because I already really love it. I've got a dedicated post coming up very soon!

I certainly don't need any more mascaras but I couldn't help picking up Maybelline's new Big Eyes mascara. I was intrigued by the bottom lash brush and can't wait to try it out. I also picked up a cute little make-up bag to store some of my new bits and pieces in!

I didn't want to buy the Garnier Micellar Water, but I couldn't help it. I didn't realise how big it was, much bigger than the Bioderma so I'm looking forward to giving it a whirl and comparing it to my beloved Bioderma. It's pretty much half of the price too!

I picked up the Garnier Beauty Oil and Pantene BB Creme on a bit of a whim. I spotted the oil on the shelves and it kind of kept calling out to me. I've yet to try it but I imagine it will be another lovely little product that will take up space on my bathroom shelves. I'm hoping it's not too oily on the skin as I don't want to be greasy but I guess we'll wait and see. Last but not least I picked up the Pantene BB Creme as I saw it on an advert and thought it looked pretty interesting. Everyone's bought into BB cream for your skin so why not for your hair?

Drugstore Haul

Drugstore haul

So, this past weekend, like every other weekend, I decided to pop into Boots. There's one only about five minutes away and I usually have a quick peek in there on a Saturday or Sunday and pick up things that I definitely don't need and definitely can't afford!

Recently I've been scouring blogs and have kept a little list on my phone of products I've spotted and wanted to try out, so when I popped into Boots on the Saturday just gone I managed to tick a few off my list! I really wanted to get my hands on the Maybelline Big Eyes Palette in Luminous Brown and spotted the little beauties on the shelves recently. I picked up the shade Luminous Brown, which is pretty much my usual sort of brown/copper colours. The palettes have a light catching primer in them so I'm really interested to try these out.

I also really wanted to pick up the Seventeen Super Lash Mascara, which was on a special introductory offer for £4.99 with a free Super Lash Liner. Bargain, but unfortunately I made the rookie error of picking up a brown/black shade instead of pure black. SO ANNOYING!! I'm going to try it out anyway as I can't take it back now that the wrapping has been taken off. I'm such an idiot!! I guess I can always go over the lashes with a black if I really need to. Maybe the Seventeen Lash Lacquer will finally come in handy.

The nib of the Superlash Liner is really interesting. It's pretty much just a felt tip for your eyes, so I'm very interested to see what look I can get from this. I couldn't say no to a freebie so I'm definitely going to try it out and if I don't like it then I'm sure I can find a good home for it.

Last, but not least, I picked up the Seventeen Eye Eye Crayon in Platinum, which I almost forgot about until I checked my list on my phone in the middle of the store. I then saw it staring out at me. I love the white packaging of this pencil and the typography. Lovely! Can't wait to try it out.
